How Do I Know It’s The Flu?
You will develop symptoms rapidly. The onset of symptoms is usually 2 days after exposure to the virus. However, the range can be 1-4 days. Most of the time, you will develop mild symptoms, but either way, you will feel fatigued. Remember that the flu is different from the cold in how it runs its course. Even many of the symptoms are different.
People who have the flu usually experience:
• A high fever (usually 99.5 to 103 degrees Fahrenheit)
• Chills
• Dry cough
• Runny and/or stuffy nose
• Body or muscle aches
• Fatigue
• Headaches
• Eye sensitivity
• Though rare, some people, especially children, will have gastrointestinal symptoms, including diarrhea and vomiting.
Although not everyone will develop a high fever, it is usually the first thing indicating the flu. If you fever goes beyond 103 degrees, you may need to seek medical attention.
