Flours and Dry Bread Mixes

There are two things you need to purchase as soon as possible: Grains and a grinder. Now, fortunately, we live in a modern era where you can purchase previously ground flour in the supermarket in bulk. You could make your own with oats and whole wheat and corn or other items, like dried chickpeas, too. The choice is yours. But all things aside, you want flour and dry bread mixes.

Wheat and other whole grains are considered a perfect food, because you get a large helping of protein, fiber, and complex carbohydrates to keep you nourished and sated. Don’t get white flour—only whole grain sources. Whole grains are more nutritional, particularly in a time of crisis.

As long as you have flour, you can make flatbreads, pita, or whole loaves, hardtack, and energy bars. You can also use flours and dry bread mixes for coating or frying meats, seafood, and vegetables or for thickening up stews and gravies.
