Tuberculosis
Tuberculosis is accompanied by a more severe persistent cough. The cough is usually a problem among persons with active tuberculosis since latent tuberculosis doesn’t cause any sign/symptom. Tuberculosis-related coughing lasts for a fortnight or longer and may cause you to produce phlegm, blood or both when you cough. Tuberculosis is more prevalent in developing countries among people who are malnourished/have weak immune systems. The disease is also common among smokers. Despite being more common in developing countries, tuberculosis can also affect people living in developed countries. The disease is treated using antibiotics which are usually taken for a relatively long period (approximately 6 months).
