Pneumonia usually begins when a common cold is left untreated. The disease can also be caused by bacteria, fungi, and viral infections. Coughing is by far the most common symptom of pneumonia. The disease causes severe respiratory tract infection which causes the production of reddish or green mucus. Pneumonia causes a persistent cough that may take some time to disappear even after taking antibiotics.
