Processed White Flour

You have undoubtedly heard about the evils of ultra-processed white flour. Not only is it devoid of bran and antioxidants naturally present in whole grains, but it is also unnatural in color. Overtime, flour whitens without the need for chemicals. However, supply and demand prompted manufacturers to spray flour with chlorine gas to bleach it. When you see “bleached flour” in the ingredient list, that is what it means. Chlorine gas is not safe for consumption. In fact, the EPA says that chlorine gas is an irritant that is unsafe for inhalation and can be lethal in large quantities.

White flour also serves little purpose when digested. Because it is high on the glycemic index, it gets digested rapidly, spikes blood glucose, and causes insulin intolerance over time. Cancer cells love simple sugars like white flour. Whenever white flour is consumed, the cells are directly fed while the rest of the body is starved for nutrition. That is why it is important to focus on whole, unprocessed grains, because these will not only nourish your body but can halt the spread of cancer cells by cutting off their food supply.
