Difficulty Swallowing and Heartburn
Chronic heartburn and persistent difficulties with swallowing are significant early warning signs. You do not want to ignore heartburn and problems with swallowing, especially when the two symptoms appear together.
There is a condition known as Barrett’s esophagus—which may lead to esophageal cancer—is highly treatable when caught early and monitored carefully by a doctor. Barret’s esophagus is when the tissues lining the esophagus start to look more like the cells of the intestines. This happens over time as a result of acid exposure from conditions like gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). Thankfully, throat cancers can be treated easily with medication and surgery.
