Fat Free Foods
Yes, you read that right. Of course some fat free foods and good for you. However, often when fat is reduced it is made up for with carbohydrates in order to remain palatable. There are also different guidelines when it comes to what exactly can be considered to be “fat-free.” These foods also tend to have added sugar and/or high-fructose corn syrup in order to prolong shelf life, which ups the calorie count on these foods. Again, it is important to pay attention and read labels when at the grocery store. That isn’t to say that you should avoid fats all together- fat is necessary. Healthy fats can be found in foods like fish, avocados, and nuts.
