Loss of Appetite
The sudden and painful stomach aches that many ulcer sufferers feel following a meal (when digestion is taking place) will cause them to have a negative association with eating. As a result the patent can develop a fear of eating, or a complete loss of appetite.
Unexplained Hunger
It can also be normal for a person dealing with an ulcer to develop what feels like hunger pains following a meal, during digestion. The person affected will typically eat to numb the feelings, however these aren’t really hunger pains, they are ulcer pains due to the imbalance of digestive fluids.
Weight Loss
If an ulcer patient develops a loss of appetite, then they will also lose weight due to the decrease in caloric intake. Other causes of weight loss in ulcer patients include vomiting frequently after eating, which can also be caused by an ulcer.
