Symptoms Of An Ear Infection

Dizziness

Dizziness is another common sign of ear infections. The dizziness is caused by vestibular neuritis or labyrinthitis which is an inner ear infection affecting the labyrinth, the part responsible for balance. The labyrinth plays a crucial role in hearing because it hosts the cochlea, a tube containing fluid and nerve endings which transmit sound to the brain. So, if this symptom is left untreated, it can cause hearing loss.

Since dizziness is common with other ailments, this symptom is a sign of ear infection if other ear infection symptoms accompany it. However, ear infection-caused dizziness can be accompanied by some hearing problems, i.e., slightly muffled hearing because of the swelling and fluid build-up in the ear.
