Symptoms
As the name suggests, the main sign/symptom of heel pain is pain. Some of the main pain-related symptoms of plantar fasciitis include; pain in the heel and the foot arch. In most cases, the pain worsens when you stand. The pain also tends to increase gradually over time (months). Most people suffering from heel pain experience pain mostly in the morning or after sitting down for hours. The pain usually decreases after walking for a few minutes. The temporary relief can be attributed to the fact that walking flexes the fascia. The pain usually returns after waking or standing for a long time. Besides causing pain, plantar fasciitis can also cause the heels to swell.
