Malaise
Is it the flu? Or is it a kidney infection? Shockingly, the malaise you feel with both illnesses is hard to tell apart. Flu and kidney infection malaise causes fever, nausea, muscle aches, and headache, and so many people simply brush off their kidney infection as a bout of influenza. However, even if malaise isn’t paired with the classic “burning sensation” when urinating, it is a symptom of a urinary tract infection.
UTIs can easily transition to kidney infections when the bacteria that has invaded the urethra multiplies and travels up into the bladder, causing cystitis. When the UTI isn’t properly treated with antibiotics, the bacteria continues to proliferate and ascend through the bladder to the kidneys.
