Feelings of Emptiness
A common description of what people with BPD generally feel is “like a void.” In other words, those with borderline personality disorder have a chronic emptiness that eats at them. Apart from struggling with identity issues, these individuals will feel like they are truly hollow—a nobody or nothing.
Feeling the void is one of the reasons irrational and risky behaviors become so commonplace among those with BPD. Drugs, sex, and food help them feeling for a little while, and the rush can become addicting.
