Weight Loss
Linked to the loss of appetite is a decline in physical body mass, but sometimes weight loss can be a separate symptom. As mentioned earlier, research has found that tuberculosis can alter the way hormones are released into the body. Since appetite is affected, patients might lose interest in eating, and thus they lose weight.
Additionally, the other symptoms could make it difficult to eat and keep food down long enough to digest it. On the other hand, even if the patient has an appetite, their body is fighting off an infection and burning through energy rapidly, resulting in decreased body weight.
