Flu-Like Symptoms
One way to sum up how a kidney stone makes you feel is “flu-like.” This is especially true when you start to get an infection from the stone. Sometimes, when a kidney stone gets lodged in the urinary tract, an infection will begin to develop. In fact, frequent UTIs are also a sign that you could have kidney stones, so if you find that you are getting more recently and do not feel well, you might want to consider the root cause.
Usually, such infections are going to cause sweating, chills, fever, and fatigue. You may also feel back and abdominal pain that ranges from dull to severe throughout the day. Some people report having an upset stomach, leading to sweating, nausea, and vomiting. All of these things, aside from the severe back pain, are very similar to the flu.
However, that doesn’t mean you should assume you have the flu if the signs pointing towards a kidney stone are there and vice versa! Remember, if you wait too long to get yourself checked by a doctor, your condition could worsen, and you could go septic. Be sure to consult a doctor as soon as possible when these symptoms start.
